Lesson One
Contrapposto

This drawing was the first one sent to me by my friend Blake.  And inspired this whole attempt.  Anyway. His drawing we really great.  Nice detail and creative concept.  I especaily love the pants.  The thing that struck me most was the tenseness of the pose.  Relaxed natural posture is probably one of the most dificult things to achive in drawing.  And Blake is trying to achive it buy turning the right foot outward.  And he is right to do that as it is an important and more advanced step in creating relaxed poses.  The one thing missing is contrapposto.  An invention of the grrks.. belive it or not.  Contrapposto is when you tilt the hip putting your wieght on one leg.  It's how we all stand.   By tilting the hip slightly and turning out one of the feet you make the satnce much more natraul.  Also in this drawing I pulled the arm in and lifted it more to cheast level.  It's a more natural postion.  Other then that the hair was given more movement to emphaize the relaxedness of the body and the flameing hand was shaded in to make it apper engulfed.

Thanks again for the picture Blake.
I still think your pants are better then mine. *smiles*
